Sophie and Steven had an amazing wedding day in the gorgeous surroundings of Crook Hall and Gardens, nestled in Durham City. The couple with daughter Elisabeth made the perfect family and were a pleasure to photograph! Crook Hall has long been on my wish-list of venues to photograph and it didn’t disappoint-around every corner is another beautiful garden with so many lovely spots for photos. The couple were married in the medieval hall after some rather ominous grey clouds put a stop to the planned outdoor ceremony, not that it mattered one jot. We were lucky to get outside for lots of photos and the speeches in the secret garden before heading inside for a very British high tea with lots of champagne.

I loved this wedding day, sophie looked amazing in her short, lace dress and Elisabeth was the cutest flower girl. Thank you for letting me be a part of it and making me so welcomed. Here are my favourite bits…

Having photographed weddings in the North East for four years now, Matfen Hall is fast becoming one of my favourite venues. With amazing scenery, the ginormous Great Hall, lovely staff and yummy food it is the perfect place for a relaxed and romantic wedding. So I was thrilled when Claire and Mark asked me to photograph their wedding there.

If I had to describe Claire and Mark’s wedding day in three words, it would have to be ‘full of surprises’! From Mark’s handwritten note for Claire in the morning, to cutting the cake with Mark’s strongman sword (I can confirm that it was very heavy and very sharp) to the fireworks in the evening which Mark had no idea about!

Claire looked absolutely amazing with a sheer-backed lace dress and I love the amazing floral displays and Claire’s bouquet with the trailing orchids created by Hollie at Fleur Couture, who I have worked with a few times and always blows me away with what she can do with flowers! Cake Stories in Jesmond made the beautiful cake which looked too good to eat with metallic, pink and flower layers.

Here is the day in pictures, I am so glad to have been a part of this wedding day, it was so much fun to photograph, congratulations to the happy couple!

I was over the moon to get an email from the editor at Your North East Wedding to say that Vicky and Gary had been nominated for Wedding of the Year. Fingers crossed that they win, to vote just click here.

The couple were married last year at the Alnwick Gardens with a gorgeous garden theme. The pavilion was the perfect setting and I love the flower and watering can centrepieces with hand-carved place settings and the cake decorated with millions of edible flowers-all handmade by Vicky’s mum!

My first wedding of 2016 was for the lovely Lauren and Glen who were married at The Holy Trinity church in Ousten followed by their reception at The George Washington Hotel just round the corner. The couple celebrated their day with their super-cute daughter Amelia, who only stole the show a little! Lauren was one of the most relaxed brides that I have been around and the whole day was such fun to be a part of. Thank you to the couple and their bridal party for being such fun and for braving the cold to get some fabulous outdoor shots!

I love the coordinating pink and green bridesmaids dresses, the his n’ hers wedding cakes made to match Lauren and Glen’s outfits and the beautiful flowers and moss centrepieces made by The Garden Studio. Here is a selection of photos from the day.
